Tent Camping Sept thru Oct.

How is the tent camping in the valley between Sept thru Oct? I was thinking the crowds would thin out about that time. What about early Nov? I imagine it's just too cold after that?

If there is no availability in Camp 4 when I arrive, what is a good fall-back plan?

I know the valley will probably be dry, and not nearly as beautiful as late spring or early summer, but I just want to get away from the urban ugh and enjoy nature for a bit. All tips appreciated.

It may be a little chilly but I wouldnt let that stop you. Camp 4 should have room this time of year, I always tried to stay outside the park the night before and hit camp 4 early in the morning when the ranger post first opens. Ive never been turned away even in the middle of summer.

Should be fine, even though there will always be crowds in the valley.
It does get much chillier now, and weather can change rapidly, so prepare.
I prefer the Tioga Pass area, always, but it's closed now. Was there just last weekend, and it snowed on Saturday, but was all gone again on Monday.
