How is the tent camping in the valley between Sept thru Oct? I was thinking the crowds would thin out about that time. What about early Nov? I imagine it's just too cold after that?
If there is no availability in Camp 4 when I arrive, what is a good fall-back plan?
I know the valley will probably be dry, and not nearly as beautiful as late spring or early summer, but I just want to get away from the urban ugh and enjoy nature for a bit. All tips appreciated.

Re: Tent Camping Sept thru Oct.
Wed, September 19, 2007 - 8:51 AMIt may be a little chilly but I wouldnt let that stop you. Camp 4 should have room this time of year, I always tried to stay outside the park the night before and hit camp 4 early in the morning when the ranger post first opens. Ive never been turned away even in the middle of summer.

Re: Tent Camping Sept thru Oct.
Sun, September 30, 2007 - 11:30 AMShould be fine, even though there will always be crowds in the valley.
It does get much chillier now, and weather can change rapidly, so prepare.
I prefer the Tioga Pass area, always, but it's closed now. Was there just last weekend, and it snowed on Saturday, but was all gone again on Monday.
